In the short time that I’ve been in Norway and based on the country comparison realized by hofstede insights, I’ve noticed that comparing to Colombia we have a lot of differences.
In Colombia we see the inequality as a fact of life, we accept that the opportunities are not the same to everyone. On the other hand, Norway a is country where everyone expects to have a voice and the same opportunities.
But I found something interesting, even though Norway provide the opportunity of equality to everyone the way they work is really individualistic, they do the activities have to by themselves.
While in Colombia it is expected that everyone should contribute for the purpose of a collective benefit and for the fellowship.
Colombia is a Masculine society we are competitive and we’re status oriented, yet we prefer to be collectivistic. This means that the competition is to members of other groups. While Norway is the second most feminine country. This means that they take care of the environment, so try to be better than others is neither socially nor materially rewarded.
Colombia has a high score on Uncertainty Avoidance that means that we are try to avoid ambiguity Norway scores 50 and this does not indicate a preference on this dimension.
A similar characteristic is our way of thinking, we are are normative, respect for traditions, also we like to achieve quick results.
Colombia is an Indulgent country. willingness to realise their impulses and desires with regard to enjoying life and having fun. Norway has an intermediate, therefore inconclusive, score of 55 in this category.
